I actually think in many or most cases, the person not involved in the actual train
wreck or circumstance that damages the person intimately involved in it is worse.
I mean in many cases I have witnessed, the person that is left behind to clean up
the mess, is more messed up than the person that was in it. I’ve been to funerals
of friends and family that were and are still devastated by the lost of a love one or
bread winner of the family, because the responsibility of that person or
contribution to the whole that they were a piece of, is dam near impossible to fill.
The void and now absence of that vital part, is so damaging, that the entire
surrounding house that they are enclosed in, falls apart from the lack of its
nucleus. Now on the other hand, I am not sure and have no idea on how it is to be
dead or handicapped by life threatening situation, but those I have seen that must
handle that situation in being responsible and taking on that new role, is truly
heart felt. I remember riding the subway in the city one day, and we were delayed
by a woman in a wheelchair wanting to get on and get strapped in for obvious
safety reasons. The operator asked us to forgive the delay, and I told him, “I
don’t have a problem at all with waiting, this is just a moment in my life, but the
person we were being delayed by, their life many moments like this”. Who am
I to complain about being a few minutes late by someone doing their best to
cope with the situation or hand they were dealt, societies view of them, the
perception they must deal with and the reality they face every singe moment?
Now honestly answer this question, don’t we all truly think know what is best
for each other and ourselves? Don’t we think we have the answers to the
many things that face us, and don’t we justify them when we are wrong? I
mean of course no one knows everything, but inst it great when we realize the
answer to things we never knew how to figure out? That’s the cycle of
recycling formula of life, to learn and grow as we are being taught and
destroy. Sounds kind of crazy, but that something to ponder if you take a little
bit further. Even if you factor in the term appreciation or lack there of, it is
something to truly appreciate. Many if not all things are never truly
appreciated and celebrated until they are gone. Think of your memories,
good and bad, think of the journey, not the destination. Think of the dreams
not the reality in conquering it, but the idea now incorporated into your daily
fabric. What was life like before computers, cell phones and personal
interactions? Were they really that worse off, or were the people going
through that time, not really. You must know better to want or need better, and
how we deal with things in their present state, says a lot about society as a
whole. Think of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, Picasso, and last
and definitely not least Jesus Christ. We celebrate them now, but I truly wonder
how many truly appreciated the greatness in them while they were leaving their
impeccable mark while living? Even with someone as insignificant as me, I
wonder if my writings, theories and thoughts will be praised when I am dead
and gone, more than they are now.
