Battleplans a.k.a. Strategies for Survival & Success
by Anthony Douglas Gere

So as the saying goes, " All is fair in Love and War", one must ask who created the
saying, and under what circumstances spawned such a phrase.  What also must
be acknowledged is they, whomever they are, doesn't define which or what type of
war, and who if anyone, is fighting in it and what are the rules and laws of love.
You know in writing this book, I have taken on an approach of getting feedback
and recycling my ideas to those not aware of me or what I am totally all about.  I
guess in doing things this way, my goal is to gain a further insight on things not
seen by my vision, to get an objective view and opinion from those viewing me.
Now in this search, one statement that has stayed with me in this journey came
from a woman that said," Anthony, I think you think too much and over analyze
everything".  She also said," that I should relax and enjoy life, and not take things
too seriously, just go with the flow".  Now in so many ways, I respect and
understand her view based on the fact she has no hindsight on my purpose.  But
what I don't feel she understands about me and really shouldn't for that matter, is
that thinking and planning is what life is all about in my opinion.  It all comes down
to choices, and being aware of the position one puts themselves in for the
moment, which is based on their experiences from the past, and where they will
be in doing so based on the future, not yet seen but envisioned.  I for one feel that
if one does not have a plan to succeed, then one should plan on failing in not
doing so.  Now obviously we can not control all that goes on around us, but one
can select their surroundings and must decide to them self will they be an
observer or participant in things going on around them.  Now I may be on the slow
boat to reality and understanding, or not in touch with those that do not display
their thoughts and actions to me in a way I can understand, but in my involvement
with those I have both observed and participated with, what I have witnessed is
those that do nothing is actually doing something, they're just not aware of the
choice on not making one.  I mean really, I'm more than likely the silliest person I
know in the world, and enjoy life beyond the definition of fun.  But in saying that, I
feel that I have worked hard to place myself in that position.  I've done it to enjoy
the time I have slated for pure enjoyment and otherwise.  It's not as extreme as
penciling in a laugh, or scheduling romance, but more important prioritizing things
that make other things and events available and non-consuming with un-finished
projects in other areas of my life.  It's not about being calculating or conditionally
selecting my involvements, it's more about putting myself in a win-win situation to
observe, participate, accept, give and grow to all that involves me.  I'm not one that
just wants to be in a situation or somewhere and have no idea where I am at or
how I got there.  In doing that, how can you enjoy something you don't understand
or know who you actually are and represent while being involved in it.  Now in
following things on that same course, there's a movie I truly enjoy, and a line that
starts off the movie that basically says it all for me.  When I first heard it, the
statement had me evaluate and re-evaluate my involvement in all that I do, and
understand the importance of being fully knowledgeable and aware on who, what
and why I am there.  In the movie, the narrator which is also the actor, says this in
a nutshell, "When sitting around at the table with the group, if you can not figure
out who is the strongest, weakest, the leader or follower in the group in the first
five minutes, then you are the one you can not see, figure out or find".  So to make
a long theory short, one must have a battleplan when going into war, a.k.a., a
strategy for surviving and succeeding.
