Beyond the Surface
Did you ever go into a book store pick up a book look at the cover and read the
brief insert on what the book is about. Now for some this might be enough to
make a judgment on whether this book is interesting or may be enjoyable to
read. Now we all know the standard cliché “Don’t judge a book by its cover”
but I often wonder if people who meet someone for the first time or even a
second time do just that. If so it would be a shame on how much they might be
missing out on in life by limiting themselves to such a narrow view. People to
me are like a mystery novel the more you read the more interesting it
becomes. So I say take the time out first of all to open the book, introduce
yourself to that person you would like to know better. But don’t just stop at the
first chapter you need to continue reading for you never know what you might
find beyond the surface.
Why this subject of thought, well I recently visited with someone who I hold
very dear to my heart. Someone who on the surface I thought I knew
everything or well lets say almost everything about. We share a lot together
and hopefully have plans of spending a lot of future time in each others life. It
was sort of a surprise visit but lets just say I was in the neighborhood and I
thought it would be cool to spend some time together in his neck of the
woods. You know they say you learn a lot about a person that you normally
would not discuss in everyday conversation by the surroundings that
influenced their life and their way of thinking. So not really knowing where I
was going or what to expect when I got there I decided that from what I know
about this person now I was a little more curious to know what was it that
enhanced his way of thinking on life, love and prosperity. I wanted to know
more of what most people don’t see unless they take out the time to look
beyond the surface.
For me it’s not the glamour and glitter of the outside exterior that makes a
person who they are but the inner interior or structure is what builds the
foundation of their character. Why and how do they feel about this or that or
what makes their mind tick in a certain way is all stimulated I
believe by the experiences they encountered through out
their life. What you visualize the world to be like is often
directed by the opportunities given or not given to you as a
child. They say by placing a great mind in an open
window of dreams the potential to reach their goals is
endless. With the right encouragement and knowledge the
impossible is always within hands reach. I haven’t seen
anyone put this into action in their life more than he does.
