But who am I to judge or lay claim on how to raise a child, I didn’t even raise my own
daughter, her mother did. I played a role that I can not display to you because it would
be a theory in its self, but can tell you that my daughter is the young woman she is
because of the woman her mother is and worked to make her become. I have dated
many women with children, and found myself caught up in wondering why things were
the way they were, or thinking I would have done things differently if I was the parent.
You see the way I was raised was firm and almost business like. My parents were
loving, provided, guided and cared for me, but by no means were we friends when I was
young. Now you may think that our communication was limited or not very good, and as
you think or say that, I will tell you to pump your brakes on that thought because you are
so very wrong. My father once told and explained to me that his job was to prepare me
for the world, and when I reach the age to vote, drink and put a roof over my own head,
we could then discuss things man to man. So my perspective on how to raise a child
and doing it is slight to say the least because I have never really raise one, just myself.
So when I have viewed many raising children, I didn’t completely have the entire picture,
just the one I painted myself. I say that because I was only seeing a small portion of
what has transpired before I came around those that have struggled to make ends
meet and play both roles in a child’s life, so in all in all, my opinion means butkus to
many or those actually doing it. But why I am ruffling your feathers and speaking on this
subject is this; we as people are being conditioned to perform like robots. You see we
are speeding up life to save time, but the time we think is there has always been there
and we have allowed it to pass us bye by trying to speed up the process that will be as it
is. I’ve often wrote about instant meals, people microwaving relationships,
conversations, transactions and more, and as we keep developing these expedient
ways to save time, we are spending much more in trying to justify it. As you work
harder to move out of that apartment into that house, you are losing something much
more valuable, your time with family and self. As you keep stretching yourself, you do
not understand that you are not elastic and can not just bounce back after you retract
or break. That time you have to invest in teaching is now being replaced by MTV or
the latest rap video or play station game, not the example of you and what you
created. Its easy for many including myself to look at single parents that are
struggling and offer a solution because we are not in that position or don’t have the
help, assistance or support when or if we were there to get out. It’s amazing when I
now watch a child throw a temper tantrum in the store with their mother a few aisles
away and wonder where in the hell is the parent supervision. Or how I use to wonder
why a person’s household was trashed, dishes everywhere and more. I have now
found that they are working their asses off to provide and are simply too tired when
they get home to turn that house into just that, a home. Its simply now a nesting
place or roof to shelter the outside world from their form of reality.
I remember back in the late 70’s early 80’s when society was suffering. Back
when the entrepreneur was dam near non-existent and banks almost collapsed
from lack of innovation and circulation through communities. Banks didn’t have the
capital to invest properly, and technology changed along with people’s need for
more. Checks were being bounced like never before and the world needed a
solution. Well this was also a chance for high powered conglomerates to
capitalize and protect what they were in fear of losing, as drug dealers became
more involved in money transactions and not sharing in the profits with the rest of
the world. So how do to control the uncontrollable that seems to be in control, easy,
allow them to eat meals that are not real. Build more jails, create stiffer laws and
prosecute minors to pay for their crimes when they reach adulthood. What I mean is,
marketers like myself created shelters for clients, and what we did was create a false
hope of security for those needing to feel better about themselves. I’m not really
proud of it, nor do I regret it, but remember, this is business, not personal. It’s like a
night club that still serves alcohol to those that will drive home drunk, and strip clubs
that give free admission passes at out of town conventions to husbands away from
their families. I mean doctors, nurses and those that can help us are incredible, and
we should give thanks for such people. But do you think pharmaceutical companies
and hospitals really want you to get better once you get sick?
