Feelin’ A Bit Like Dorothy                                                           Page 3

I truly think one of the biggest things we as people are more afraid of is
being judged, how people view us and we are more embarrassed by the
results in asking for help or in my case incarceration than anything else.  I at
a point was ashamed of being in jail, until my Uncle that came to see me
told me, “They might have your body in here, but don’t be imprisoned
mentally.  Free your mind and improve yourself while you are in here and
have the chance to.  You have the freedom to think without distractions.  You
have the time to reflect, plan and formulate who you are as a person
because a man wants to look back on his life and be proud of everything he
has gone through, good or bad.  Learn from this, not just on what you did,
but what you didn’t do, because trust me, it could be worse, a lot worse.  You’
re gonna get out soon, and who you are then, will be who you are right now,
mentally!”  That meant a lot to me, because I didn’t have a lot of visitors that
came to see me, though I kind of appreciated that because it allowed me to
visit more with myself.  Instead of justifying my reasoning, I had to humble
myself and realize that what I was going through at that time can either make
or break me.  I am far from a criminal, just like the person that wrote to me
labeling themselves as a drunk or alcoholic.  We are people, and as
humans, we make mistakes.  But making that mistake over and over again,
places you in a situation of a personal and selfish justifiable acceptance
down the proverbial yellow brick road, and you are wanting that fate, and
nothing else.  But what is worse is that you are not caring about the very
world you inhabit with billions of other people, and making your own
personal rules to fit your needs and situation.

I also got a bunch of emails from men and women asking why is it hard to
find love, and all they seem to be finding is what they just left behind or
don’t want?  Well my point or answer to that question is this, “If you have
been catching trout in a steam that trout swim in, and now you want to eat
shark, you must change locations and or your fishing pole if you want
something different.  Or simply, use a different type of bait”.  I mean come
on, who is crazier in a crazy house, the one sane person or the entire
population inhabiting the place they call home?  Even in prison, the
guards make the rules, but the inmates actually dictate how the prison is
run, seriously.  I think that maybe if people didn’t want to manufacture a
person and accepted people for who they are, we all would get along better.
I’ve found that many if not most people, place pressure or the thoughts of
things they won’t or will not deal with, on the other person.  It could be out of
laziness, ones inabilities, knowledge or whatever. But how one handles the
situations, all comes down to the things one can not handle.
