His Way
A Tribute to Him
By Michelle Alcala
You know there are times in life when you meet someone who just stands out
from the rest. Their presence shines so bright its almost blinding to the eyes. I
have had the pleasure and the honor to meet an individual who I think you all will
agree is outstanding in his own right. His has a canny ability to embrace life each
and every day with an outlook that the impossible dream is possible. Everyone I
know who has had the opportunity to be in his presence has walked away with a
positive spiritual inspiration for life. I myself in all the time I have known him
find his characteristics to be magnetically impossible to ignore. His charming
personality leaves an irresistible effect that seems to draw you close to him and is
somewhat enjoyable to experience. Life as we all know it can be a challenge but
for him he sees it as an opportunity to express yourself in a way that others will
look upon as an impressionable legacy to follow for years to come. Does he allow
any obstacles from preventing him to reach this goal? No not him, he believes his
purpose in life is much bigger than himself. He envisions a dream and is driven
with a strong desire to have all who surround him live a life of prosperity and
happiness. It is what drives his inner spirit in a way that could only be labeled to
others as a unique style of living not utilized to the fullest by many people in
today’s society. Now it may not be your way or my way, oh no. it’s much more
than that he lives life his way.
You may be thinking what makes one individual stand out from the rest. Is it
their physical features? Maybe if you were the top model in the fashion world
industry. Or could it be their intellectual way of thinking that seems to make
people stop and listen like E.F. Hutton who seems to have the knowledge people
seek on the corporate world of investment. And yet there are some I believe who
are just born with a natural god given talent to excel and stand out above the
rest. Just look at the entertainment industry not everybody could sing, dance or
act or we all would be stars lightening up the sky at night. But there are a few
select people in this world that are born with the ability to capture your attention
and stand out from the rest. As a child I have always had a love for music. Be it
rock n roll, Motown soul, jazz, blues or easy listening vocals music seemed to
always be a daily part of my world creating inspirational feelings within my soul.
Take Frank Sinatra for example, “old blues eyes” a favorable nickname for this
talented singer and actor. Not a popular singer for my era of time but a sound I
was quite familiar with since his music was a favorite of my parents and their
culture background. What seemed to amaze me about him was his ability to
capture just the right words in a song and mesmerize his audience in style that I
am sure we all can agree was distinctively recognized as an undeniable talent that
was all his own. A compassionate man with a passion to live his life not by anyone
else’s standards but his own charted course that seemed to be driven within his
heart and love for life. Expanding his horizon to all cultures of the world he
expressed his spirit for life to all that would listen to the sound of his voice. .
Known to be associated with a certain individual group of people he did not allow
society as a whole to destroy his God given ability to entertain the world and reach
his destiny. Instead he continued on his path and from generation to generation
he left a legacy for all to admire and respect. And right up to the end of his life
and career no matter what no one can ever deny he did it his way.
Now let’s get back to the man that for me has driven my heart to write these
words to you today. God only knows how difficult it can be to have a lifelong
commitment and the ability for people to have trust and faith in their abilities.
But this man has an endlessly ability to stay focused on what he believes to be a
sure success on life, love and happiness. His creative mind and intellectual
approach to reach his goals has gotten him where he is today. I am sure he has
had his struggling times and encountered more that he felt he can handle. But
short of some regrets to few to mention he did what he felt he had to do. He
continues to stay on course in a direction that undoubtedly will prove to all that
dreams do come true. Committed to give every part of himself to the less
fortunate he utilizes his talented abilities in such way that can only bring
beneficial results for all to endure. His dream is to leave behind a remarkable
standard of living for all to admire and respect and to be known and remembered
with admiration and love for life it self. To be loved by most and hated by few is a
destiny he is bound to reach. His ability to live and love with unconditional terms
and unlimited boundaries is what I adore about him. With a loving heart and an
open mind his goals in life is to create a world of utopia something undoubtedly he
will surely reach. And to all the record will show he took life’s blows and did it
his way.
Listen and learn from the words of the song that has left a memory and legacy for
one man and inspired many others to follow. Is it an impossible dream or just life
as he sees it? For Frankie he delivers the message I did all I could to be a man in
a style that was my way. To the man I pay tribute to today I have rewritten the
words to the song to reflect my adoring affection for him. So let it be known to all
to me it’s a true honor to know and love him unconditionally. For what is worth I
believe you all will agree he faced it all and he stood tall but much more than that
he did it his way.
His Way
And now, the end is near;
and soon he will face the final curtain.
My friend, He’ll say it clear;
He’ll state his case, of which his certain.
He lived a life that is full.
He has traveled each and every highway;
and more, much more than this,
He did it his way.
Regrets, he has had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
He did what he had to do
and saw it through without exemption.
He planned each charted course;
each careful step along the byway,
but more, much more than this,
He did it his way.
Yes, there were times, he is sure you knew
When he bit off more than he could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
He ate it up and spit it out.
He faced it all and He stood tall;
and did it his way.
He has loved, He has laughed and cried.
He has had his fill; his share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
He finds it all so amusing.
To think he did all that;
and may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not him,
He did it his way.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
and not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows he took the blows -
And did it his way!
With All My Love
Yours Truly
