Kanye West

When I was in college, the forces that be made sure I was going to
learn something besides partying and sports. From many miles a way
from my geographical home, there were the same parties going on
every single night. The only and main difference in the parties going on
back home and in the Midwest was the people I didn’t know, and the
overall setting of the places. Where as in California, you can go from
bar to bar. Club to club, venue to venue and see, witness and hear
everything under the sun or moon. Within blocks and even sometimes
clubs, you can enter into one domain and hear techno, jazz, high
energy, country, swing or whatever type of music. Where as in the
place I was at, you had to search out your genre, and create a home
within the confines of an environment. In the Midwest in my opinion,
things are more selectively concentrated and dedicated to the majority,
which is a minority to the big cities w ay of life. But when I was there on
a basketball scholarship, the many that supported and guided me
there through their efforts, made sure sports was the by-product, and
education, the focus and substance of me being there. As a freshman,
I remember going to my coach or assistant with my class schedule,
and seen him dam near all out of his chair when he seen my
caseload, and the classes I had personally selected out of ignorance
and training. The whole college thing w as pretty much out there for
me, because you, at least me, seen those focused, those wasting time
and those searching for a answer, signal or sign from a institution that
basically held you responsible for entering yourself into adulthood. If
you didn’t or don’t have the focus and proper guidance, they have no
problem letting you spend your hard earned dollars for classes. Its not
personal, but there is so much going on, that they have better things to
do than watch student after student drop out quicker than a one hit
wonder in the music industry. But if you have a plan, they have no
problem in assisting you in surpassing your own goals and dreams, to
only use you as a reference in there distinguish alumni association.
Now if you’re a little patient, slow and not sure, they also have no
problem in helping you become a career student, and keep you around
campus or in the system to further help their cause. As I have told
many, to me, college is highly overrated.
