Mardi Gra-di-da                                                                         Page  1

Can we all say a prayer today, for the many that have lost nearly everything from
the force, Hurricane Katrina. I mean that, please allow them to use the strength
in your passionate prayers, to make whatever decisions and choices they deem
fit for their lives in the aftermath of this element from above. It truly makes one
wonder, what and how powerful is nature, when it can destroy and wipe out a
town and many parts of states, in just a few minutes. How lives have been
changed, altered and lost in the time it takes to bake some frozen store made
lasagna. This isn’t a terrorist attack, or some right wing activist or advocate trying
to make a statement. This is nature, life and all that comes with it, in a natural
way. So though this Theory may seem harsh and brutally direct, it is meant to
make a change, and enlighten those, lost in the dark.  But please say that
prayer, and give all you can.

Now if you may, lets take this theory and related it to a situation we will call a
building with many floors. On each floor, there are areas or departments,
handling various but specific affairs, while on others, similar activities are being
accounted for, to handle other areas that need to be addressed. On the first
floor, one must deal with first entering and maneuvering throughout the building,
or situation, to get where they need to go. Once the directory or mental rolodex
has guided you to where you need to be, one then can make their way to the
elevator to reach such a place. This elevator, which is the emotional side of the
building / situation, is what addresses each emotion, while having the ability to
reach others, if permitted. Now on the second floor, this department is dealing
with the cosmetics of a situation. In this case, the disaster of the hurricane, and
what can be seen. This floor may seem to be the most graphic to the onlookers,
but as we will soon see, looks can be deceiving, and only one of many that will
not be truly seen, just viewed. When we see the photos and hear of the stories,
one feels bad for those involved and affected, but we usually leave them be, and
let them deal with the problems that don’t directly affect us unless we are
personally involved. The floors that follow in each direction, deals with deep
seeded emotions, and may not show themselves as themselves, but other
areas that may or many not be addressed in a crisis. What I mean is this. Many
in the areas affected and hit by this powerful force, are those of a financial
demographic, that may not have the ability or tools to rebuild what they had and
just lost. Think about it, the preliminary word is, it will take many many months
and even years to bring New Orleans back to where they were, and that’s not
even a promise at this time.  That’s a hunch!  There is so much to the unknown,
that we are basing this disaster on something that history has told us or lead us
to  believe. But history never had something of this kind hit a time and town so
hard under these circumstances, so that guesstimation on a time frame, may
be a little bit off at best. Will New Orleans recover, yes, definitely. But more than
likely, what you seen, goes far beyond what’s really going on.  This is a
microcosm of our society, and the microwave solution for a down home
southern meal we all experience when thinking of such a place.  The reason we
all pay taxes, give to blood banks, donate money and such, is for situations like
this.  Remember that building with the many floors, well it has employees that
work there.  This state is that building, along with the other areas hit hard by
Katrina.  So what can we do as citizens, that we haven’t done already?  What can
we do as onlookers, tax payers and more.  Better yet, what can we do as
believers, people and human beings to help?  What if this was your town, my
town or some third world country you had a stake in, what would you do?  When
this is all said and done, thing will be okay.  But until that time, people are dying,
starving, being emotionally damaged and plotting to survive by any means
necessary.  Can we help them, or is this just a way of life, and a experiment we
can learn from, at the sake of others.  So know time will heal a lot of this, and
cover up many wounds, but is that what we would want for ourselves if this was
us?  But like I said, things will work themselves out, and many will come in and
give all that they can to help.  There will be drastic changes, and in time, the
memories of what was, will be yesterdays news, and forgotten, like the lives that
were there when they were alive and doing well in the town that’s known
for, Mardi Gra-di-da.

Now lives have been lost, and that’s a shame. Children, medically dependant
and the elderly, abandoned, lost and helplessly in need of attention. While
people are looting stores, killing each other, starving and panicking over a
stress that they don’t even realize is there, bigger things are happening and not
happening, and that’s a shame. As in myself, we are watching and hoping for
something to happen, but nothing is or can, until it, the time, dictates or says so.
That’s the aftermath of this disaster. Yes the initial was terrible, but it’s now
the wait, affects, damage and more that is proving to be the more powerful force.
As families have lost memories, memorabilia, savings, homes and
attachments that are far beyond the material or physical, some one is planning
on a building contract, paid for by the state and government, in rebuilding
Bourbon Street. But who are they, and should they reap in the benefits of a
natural disaster, instead of doing it for the good of mankind, and giving back to
the cause. I mean where are all of the leaders right now?  Where did they go, or
am I just not seeing them. Maybe they are meeting somewhere above me in this
situational building with many floors, that I cannot see because my elevator
doesn’t go that high. Maybe someone is sending relief, and silently doing things
I can’t understand. I’m sure there area few or more  well to do people donating
things, but that’s not enough.  You see I’m looking at this like say, the Nike
corporation.  Yes, you have the Jordan shoe line and the $150.00 dollar pairs
that are showcased  and advertised, but it’s the lower end shoes that actually
make Nike more money because more people can afford those, than the
expensive ones, everyone wants.  That’s how I’m looking at this.  I mean yes, the
rich and famous can drop a lot more money  more quickly, but if we as a country
can donate what we can on a smaller level, the impact from more people would
be much greater in many more ways.  That’s unification at its highest level.
