The Space Around The Stars
By Anthony Douglas Gere

As I look above to find my favorite bright friend in the sky, I see the many things that surround it.
It's the space around the star that I'm concern with now, and somehow it never gets noticed.
Just by the emptiness and lack of separation between each glow, you know it's there, when you
notice what's around it, but only then does it seem important.  So many times people admire the
stars in the sky, and never realize that the star wouldn't shine, if the space wasn't so dark.
So as I ask what is that to the masses I speak to, many will reply, nothing but the space around
the star, it's suppose to be there, what are you talking about Chaz?  Well I'm talking about just
that, and have you noticed it lately, and if not how come because it is just as important, as the
star its self.  Now if you say the space is nothing, then you don't see the significance or
importance of the space around the star, or the stars purpose and role in shining the way
it does. You see to me, nothing could ever be anything if something wasn't making itself
nothing for something else to blossom or shine. That's my hero, the creator of the creation,
the thing that makes the things what they are. But as the star shines and the darkness grows
darker around it, it all has it's place, it all has it's purpose for those who identify with it. These
are those who can relate to the space around the star that shines so bright, as they do the
glow that brightens the darkness, that helps each other become what is the title
of my words surrounded by the white background. That my friend, is the space around the
stars.

I sometimes relate to the space around the stars as the background or the forefront to
success or gratification towards excellence. As the lead singer gets notoriety, or the
quarterback throws the winning touchdown, it is the drummer or the guy who hikes the
ball that gives birth to the moment we all remember and replay in our memory banks as
remarkable.  Without these things, nothing would happen. If there is no music, we could
not admire the great ballerinas that showcase their craft so elegantly.  If it were not for
the bright lights on the marque, we would not see the people inside of the nightclub
dancing and mingling until the break of dawn. So I praise the many things that I call the
space around the stars, for being what they truly are, magnificent and playing their
part to make many other things possible. So now when daytime comes to make us
jealous and envious of it's purpose as the spoiler of romance, we take another step
towards appreciation to the night. In many ways with materialistic views of reality and
intimate moments with work, we miss the night, as we look forward to the birth of
another day.  Yes we have changed the direction of this letter, as we have the thought
of darkness and what makes it shine so bright. This again is another step towards the
inevitable, and also the place we now call, the space around the stars.

I often wonder if the romantic state of mind becomes a constant state of  living, with
the blind members of America and abroad.  Because of the constant state of
darkness and the contrast of brightness, one could look upon life in a deep phase
of humility and sensitivity, if the roles were switched.  This could also be the same
for those who do not have physical vision, in being able to see what most of us
miss when viewing anything.  When I speak of blindness and lack of physical
vision, I'm speaking in two different theories to be graded by you. Being blind and
not having vision, is not the same as being in complete and overall darkness. It's
not the space around the star, it is the star around the space, that dims the
darkness and accents the shadow that leads to curiosity. There could be no
footprints to follow, if there was no feet
to plant it's depression, as there could be no depression in the sands
of time, if we didn't take the time to admire the grains of gravel
that lay across our beaches.  But did we make the time or did it allow
us to claim it for our memories to shine and exist? Who cares any way,
its supposed to be there isn't it?  I'm talking about the space
around the stars, and what makes it shine -
