The Very Same Difference Page 2

Now what you may or may not know is celebrities and those that are famous, are just like the
rest of us. I mean they eat, shit, fart, get sick and put their clothes on just like everyone else,
so why are they famous? One reason I think is that what they do is rare, or their craft and gift,
is not randomly pressed by many. Therefore, we celebrate what many of us are capable of
doing, but not given the opportunity to do for whatever reason. That reason maybe insight,
foresight, guidance, opportunity or whatever. But the bottom line is, we make them what they
are and treat them like we want to be treated. I once went out with this woman from
Sacramento California, and she told me the system was all fucked up. I must agree, she’s
right, but she didn’t get the entire picture on how this portrait was being painted. You see we
went to this restaurant, a fine one I might add, and got seated immediately by the mater de on
a Saturday evening. Others were waiting, some just trying to get in, some perpetrating a
fraud by being at the ‘in’ spot and some leaving because they knew they couldn’t get seated
in a timely fashion. As we walked right up to the podium of a man making minimum wage
but wearing an Armani suit, I shook his open hand with my closed fist filled with bills, made
a gesture and stood for a milli-second to get a table I knew was waiting for me with my
name on it. You see I didn’t need to make a reservation because many months earlier, I
made them when I arrived with a few of my clients. So when I arrived again, an agreement
was made. It really had nothing and everything to do with how much I gave him, but had
more to do with knowing I could hand it to him and that he would accept it. So now without
looking around and knowing others are looking at me while I am strolling down the aisle,
I made the situation mine, and created a vibe that signaled I had arrived. This is an act,
sort of like my friend that we were honoring, and at this very moment, I am now
understanding why we treat movie stars a certain way. Anyway, as we sat down, I
ordered off of the menu, said hello to a few people and we ate this fabulous meal.
Towards the end, the floor manager brought out this dish the chef had made for me
because I am lactose intolerant, and as we finished and prepared to leave, the new
manager came over to our table, told us that the meal had been comp by the chef, and
to soon please come again. Now this shook her cage and it should of if this has never
happened to you. You see I can afford a three hundred-dollar meal, but I got it for free,
and someone else that maybe couldn’t, had to wait, got normal service and paid full
price. That’s how we treat celebrities different, and it’s stupid if you don’t understand
the logic. You see I bring my clients to certain places, buy the specific gifts and recycle
the money they pay me, back into the same circle I am boxed in, business wise.
Others see that, and the perception of this place being the crème de la crème, allows
people to keep coming back. It’s like advertisement without paying for it, because if
those that are ‘famous’ go there, people want to be associated with success and they
will come. If you really would like to know the power of the not so famous, stop buying
a certain artists CD, or stop going to top stars movie, and see how quick they fall out
of grace in the eyes and iron fist of the media. If you think racism was bad back in the
day which is was, what about placism now in the present. I recently got into it with
my cousin, when he was trying to play big dick daddy with the candy nuts with a
friend of mine. He was talking about how big his house was, his cars, diamonds
and things like that, and was making my friend feel kind of small. I didn’t see a
reason for that, because hell, the have more in common than he realized. I mean
yeah, my cousin drive a Lexus and my friend a Toyota. The funny thing is, they’re the
same dam cars that come from the same manufacturing line. I mean yeah, there’s
a big difference in price, but the bottom line is, they both get you to point A and B,
drink gas and needs to be serviced. My friend shops at Ross and Marshall’s, even
Goodwill, and my cousin, Nordstrom’s, Barneys and stores like that. But once again,
they both are buying clothes, and making somebody else, richer than both of them put
together with whatever designer label that’s placed on the garment. So what one
wears a suit and the other a jacket from the Men’s Wearhouse, the common link is, they
both are buying clothes and living life on the same planet, spending the same dollar bill
that circulates throughout the world. Now last but not least, my friend works an entry
level job and lives in a two bedroom apartment, and my cousin works for himself and
has a three bedroom home. The common denominator, they both have to work, are
eating, have roofs over there head and satisfying whatever desires they see fit for
themselves.
