Tis' The Season
by Anthony Douglas Gere
It seems like each year in passing, we lived life not remembering the last twelve months and
what it represented when we were there in it and living it like it would never end. Think back
around a year ago, the promises you made, where you were at and all that you vowed to do this
year that you didn’t attempt in the last. Have you done them, have you grown or have the things
hidden in darkness finally been shown the light? Are you depressed if you have regressed from
the last moment to the next, or highly improved in your now new groove that is smooth when you
move so agile? What ever the answer, give thanks. There have been many that do not have the
chance to continue in this quest we call life. There are those that did not see this year, and
many more not able to see the next, so remember how blessed you are in this one and
continue to live. This is supposed to be the happiest time of the year, but I insist and am fully
dedicated on celebrating the other three hundred and sixty four days the way many just
celebrate the one called Xmas and the Holiday Season. I know as a child, I became overly
excited around this time, but didn’t or couldn’t place my finger on the reason why. I knew I
celebrating something, but only knew the presents would appear in abundance from some
heavy weight fella riding in a sled. This image, Santa Claus, is the full culmination of many
people working together to find and unite for one larger cause. I not only wish to you and
yours a merry Xmas and Happy Holiday Season, I wish you a great life broken down into
months, days, hours and minute by minute moments. I do this for tis’ the season, not
jus' the reason to celebrate and love.
Now as many of us scurry through the malls and shopping centers in a rapid pace to beat
the crowds and take advantage of the many deals and sales that are offered, understand
the full health of our economical status. Parking lots are full, crowds are in abundance
and the lines are some what out of control in trying to purchase a mere stick of gum. We
should not be frustrated with the time we seem to waste waiting, but happy there are
people able to provide a haven for us to spend our hard earned dollars in expressing
our status and emotions. It seems as though each of our individual perspectives and
imagination in manufacturing things grows, and we become more creative in the gifts
we gather and give to those we love and co-exist with in areas we spend most of our
time. We have secret Santa's, buddy gifts, company combatants and more people that
we don't really associate with on this level in other times, but now for some reason we
find the joy and time to display some sort of truce and happiness. We have some
blood flowing beings that can not afford materialistic items that cover our television
screens in advertisements, and basically use the gift of hand craftsmanship to get
their point across in patching things together that would never have found each other
if not for this time of year, to show their love and efforts. We also use this time of year
to bring smiles to our children and kids, for this time is suppose to be all about them
any way. But seeing how we all are kids at heart, so it is said, we all celebrate and
give thanks. We do so for tis' is the season, not just the reason to live, love and praise
the moments leading up to this time of year. We do this to celebrate the Birth of
Christ and also the conception of another chance to enjoy life and what it truly means, f
or tis' the season, not jus' another reason.
Now a study says that this is most vulnerable time of the year as far as people
ending their lives. I say that their lives was already over if that is true, because all
they really needed was a reason or significant time to celebrate their departure, and
selected this time for what ever reason. I feel sad for us as people not them,
because we as a worldwide community should have recognized this lacking of love
and extended a helping hand to help Santa find them via personal contact. Email,
phone calls or a gift of understanding what life really is. In my opinion, life is Xmas;
life is a long span of time defined into a many small moments making dreams
become reality in the eyes of the blind. Surviving is not living, so living to survive
forms no formidable adversary when one gives in to what was giving to them, life. So
celebrate, parade your emotions in your actions and decorate those around you with
your love and the greatest and most precious gift you have been fortunate enough to
receive, life. Take this time of year, and this special time of day to build a positive ball of
momentum to end this year, and start the next one to only end it in this same fashion
and arena. I send this to you out of love, out of respect and in ways that have nothing to
do on how I personally feel about myself. I am giving you this as a gift. A gift that I
created with my own two hands and mind, a gift that has no receipt, a no return policy
and worth more than any materialistic item you can find in a store. This gift is priceless
because my time is worth more than the dollars I spend freely. So as you celebrate this
time of year, be thankful and just know someone is thinking of you and all, for tis' the
season, not jus' the reason to love -
