Where I Need To Be, Right Now                                  Page 3
By Anthony Douglas Gere

I can honestly tell you that I can count on one hand with two fingers bent, how
many people stuck it out with me when and while I was climbing.  That’s what
happened to the person that emailed me, they had enough, and couldn’t stick it
out for whatever reason.  I don’t blame them, they didn’t have the vision or
patience, and I respect that, I really do.  But to me, you can’t come back once
you left in the middle, and expect to celebrate at the end with those that ran the
race.  There is no substitute for the pain, sweat, blood, tears and smiles,
because the appreciation for accomplishing anything is the reward all in its
self.  I fully believe that the prize is in the journey, and for those that only want
you when they need you, I have nothing to give them but what they gave me.  Its
not a hate thing or something out of remorse, its just the thought of giving them
what they abandoned and disrespecting the forces that allowed me and my
team the pleasure to see what I envisioned before viewing.  But some people
are different, and need to be present physically not just mentally, or need
something tangible to hold on to, while letting go of the power they are trying to
conquer.  I mean in all reality, every day has its moments to be what it is, as
each memory has the same to cherish what was and is to be.

So now as I am in search of what I never knew was lost, I’m appreciating the
problems I have in my life.  I’m cherishing the pleasures as I am the pain,
because many wish they had the problems I did, which are minor to many
that have gone from this earth.  As I am sitting here flossing and picking Filet
Mignon out of my pearly white teeth, I am remembering the stories my
grandmother told me how back in the day, she seen her mother picking
thorns out of her fingers from working 16 hours in the fields, picking cotton.
So really, how bad do I really have it, I mean forget me, what about all of us?
If you really understood how thankful I am for people to criticize me, to praise
me for my endeavors and more, you will understand why I tell those I come
in touch with to give.  I mean giving is the ultimate thing to me.  Form those
that read my stuff, throw it away as trash and more, I truly appreciate the
effort.  Many writers and artist ask me why I write, and I tell them for more
reasons than explanations.  From those that find comfort in my words to
those that think I ramble and define it as gibberish, I am thankful.  Writers
and artist I come in contact with ask me if they should submit their stuff or not,
and I say that it is all in what you are looking for.  If it is money, praise, an
evaluation or whatever, do it because you want to, not because someone told
you.  The feeling to share with those that are silent is an everlasting high that
fuels my mind with the things I do on paper.
