Anyway, I think a lot of good and bad comes out of listening and hearing things.  To
me, the barber in the shop is much like a bartender at a club.  You know, the
ringleader that quiet and more than likely, can get you ice cubes in the middle of the
desert on a Sunday evening.  The person that knows more about what you’re doing
and why you’re doing it than you do, because they have so many stories to compare
yours to when you’re in their chair, spilling your guts to them for no logical reason.  
The person that hears everything, and listens to what they want, and get more tips
than a Korean nail parlor or mater-de at five star restaurant in the Big Apple.  The one
with more connects than your DSL provider, the ultimate directory or, hook-up
person.  Well in this place, many form bonds and everlasting friendships.  Even if it
may be for the time you spend in their every Saturday or whatever day you go,
relationships are born and kept.  I met one of my best friends there a while ago.  
We’ve been friends for over thirty years, and pretty much know each other’s schedule
down to a T.  I’m not talking about someone your cool with or just know, I’m talking
about a friend.  Someone that if you and them “shoveled a little dirt”, oops, sorry
about that, I was speaking the slang my gang bangs in that last phrase.  Let me
translate what I meant, when we say “ Shoveling some Dirt”, we are talking about
doing something wrong.  You know, dirt, wrong, clean, right.  That kind of word
swapping or comparison.  Sorry about that.  Anyway, I’m talking about a friend that if
you and them did something wrong and got caught by the police, they wouldn't’t tell
on you and you them.  That kind of friend that if they took both of you in separate
rooms and said that each had told on the other, you could silently look the cop
straight in the eye, grin and say to yourself and them, “ They’re full of shit, because
you friend wouldn't’t sell you out for anything”.  That kind of friend.  The kind I have in
where if I was to walk into my house, and the bed was messed up, my girlfriend
was in the shower, there was a empty condom wrapper on the floor and her was
asleep on the couch, the last thing I would think was that they slept together.  That
kind of friend, and I have four friends like that in my life, maybe five.  I know I’m
blessed, and know they feel the same about me.  Many say to have one or two of
those kinds of friends in a lifetime you’re lucky.  So I am truly thankful, but can
honestly say that I met one of them at the barbershop.  So now that I’ve bored you
with that, let me get back to the theory and the interviewing survey.  The strategy
on how to go into a job interview and successfully land it, might have came from
a time me and my buddy was in the shop as youngsters.  But why it might not
work now, is the way the work environment has changed over the years.  You
know, times now, are nothing like when our parents and grandparents worked
for a living.  You know, where you knew when you took on a job, you were going
to be there for a zillion years.  Where it became part of your life, and your
co-workers, an extended part of your family.  My parents and grandparents on a
average, more than likely worked at their jobs for at least 25 years between them
each.  They were staples, and switching jobs every other month or having a
resume longer than this theory was unheard of.  Where hiring and selecting a job
was a process, not instant choice or decision.  Where you were investing in your
company, and they were investing in you.  Kind of like the military, when they train
you, send you to schools and more. They don’t want to lose you, or spend all of this
money so you can take it out in the private sector.  They want to eat the cake they
baked, not let someone else profit from it.  But hey, that’s just another thing I might
have heard about, while sitting down waiting for my turn, in the barbershop.
