Excuse Me                                                                                                         Part 1
By Anthony Douglas Gere

Hello, how are you?  I'm doing fine if you care to know or ask.  And thank you if you did, that
might come in handy later on while we're conversing.  And oh please do forgive me, how
rude am I being today?  Sorry, I'll do my best to not overlook the basics from now on.  You're
here reading this and I'm just acting like you're not even here, and I'm just rambling on.
Where are my manners?  Excuse me for that, and let me tell you something I've always
wanted to do with someone.  I would like to play a game with you.  Yeah you.  You ask why, I
answer why not?  For whatever reason, we've just met again, for the first time, so why not
spend a few minutes and explore a little deeper than the last time we spoke.  You see
when we first communicated before, something got crossed up.  I didn't understand you
completely, and I would assume, me to you also.  But before going there, I would like to
play a game with you, so we can find out more about each other.  But first lets lay down
some ground rules and aerial guidelines.  Barriers and walls so to speak. That way, no
one can get hurt, and who knows, if it gets too hot in here, we have something to contain it
until we blow it down or away.  So maybe we should start with our names?  Yeah, lets do
that.  My name is, wait, I have an idea, lets use pretend names, so our imaginations can
soar.  Your name will be, "YOU", and my name will be "Lawrence Oliver Van-Elk".  Wait,
that's too long.  I know, you can call me by the first initials in each of my names, LOVE.
That's right, Love, or Mr. Love to you, since you're being a little feisty.  What do you mean I
can't do that?  What, you've never been called a nickname or something more shorter than
your name?  Okay, I thought so, lets continue.  Oh yeah, I can't think of any more rules right
now, but I'm sure we can make some up, the further we go along.  Now, tell me about
yourself, are you short, tall, petite, medium or full figured?  You are a woman right?
No no, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against men, hell, I'm a man. But I'm not into
them personally the way I am with women.  I need a ying to my yang, so its a connection
thang, buy hey, to each his or her own, that's just not my thing.  So tell me something.
Remember, I can't see you because I'm blindfolded, and need your assistance.  Oh wait,
did I forget to tell you about the blindfolds?  Sorry, don't get upset, I'm human and make
mistakes.  Anyway, how do you see yourself, tell me?  What do you like to showcase all
alone, in public and in the dark?  What's your favorite color, scent and feel of touch?  Do
you like music, art, poetry or walks at night.  Maybe a picnic on the beach, or just
relaxing with some friends or alone, in the comfort of your own home?  Tell me how you
feel when its cold, warm and hot?  Wait a second, are you one of those sinicle people?
You know, some one that thinks the world is only as big as the world they live in.  You're
not one of those are you?  Good, okay, lets continue.  Um, what satisfies your thirst,
appetite and hunger.  If this was your world, how would you run it, and what would you
do about me.  I'm sorry, I didn't mean me literally, I meant love in general?  Would you
teach it, preach it and practice it the way you're doing now?  I'm sorry, am I going too
fast, or not fast enough?  Let me catch my breath, so, excuse me for a sentence or two,
and let me gather my thoughts.  That's long enough, ready? Me too.  Next paragraph.

Okay, now we're at that point.  You know, where I can go explicit or playful with the
questions.  Deep or shallow.  Fun or far out there. Lets see, which way should I go?
I know, lets flip a coin?  Got a quarter, okay, never mind, I got one so here we go.
Heads, well I win, lets go there!  Now, you put on the blindfold.  You ask the questions,
and let me learn about you, while you're teaching me what you feel I need to know.
That's all communication is isn't it?  You and I tell each other the degrees of
acceptance and denial we believe in.  The barriers of what we will and won't do,
based on what we feel is obtainable and simply possible.  The price of esteem and
comfort?  That's what a relationship is to me, a line of communication that's based
on truth, trust and comfortableness.  So tell me about the way you walk, talk, sit,
stand and lay.  Tell me what you daydream about, have fears of and what makes or
breaks your day, moment or evening.  I want to know how much you love loving
something, and why do you hate hating the things you love to hate, over and over
again.  What's your favorite food, and how does it feel when it slides down your
throat.  What do you imagine doing at the pinnacle of your imagination?  In a perfect
world, how would you define perfection?  Can you really tell me anything about
you that really matters to both of us?  Can you tell me any and everything I need to
know, that I more than likely, don't already know or assume.  Can you do this to tell
me how to be all you have ever wished for and never had, so that I can be fully secure
in knowing I'm pleasing you, which pleases me?  Can you hurt me when it means
loving me and showing me a love I never knew would hurt so good?  Can you teach me
how to better understand you, so I can better understand myself.  Hey, stop peeking
and put the blindfold back on.  Close your eyes, and open your mind to read this.  Don't
just follow the words, write them with me.  Come with me, help me write this thing we're
reading together.  If you can't tell, the pace is getting better, as is the scenery.  I'm
feeling your beat, are you feeling mine.  Hey, I'm talking to you!  Hey, oh I'm sorry, that's
rude.  Its better to say, excuse me.
